<p>The <strong><a href="http://www.classic-recreations.com/modules.php?name=Content&#038;pa=showpage&#038;pid=80">Classic Recreations</a></strong> site has been updated with the three GT500CR models that are going to be produced. The concept models, named <strong>Intro</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong> and <strong>Venon</strong> come in a range of colours and range from <strong>$US119,000</strong> to <strong>$US199,000</strong>. Check out the spec breakdown after the jump.<span id="more-2828"></span></p>
<p>It&#8217;s all pretty self explanitory, so &#8216;ve just done the lazy thing and pasted it here for you all.  Keep in mind the images are just concept designs and may change when they go into production.  Classic Recreations have also told me that various parts will be made available to mustang fans and builders, including the various GT500CR parts.  This may also mean Carroll Shelby Signature gauges and seats but is yet to be confirmed.</p>

Obviously an old video from the time when Unique were at the top of their game. But now I&#8217;ve just seen a brand spanking new video Hot Rod TV have put together entitled &#8216;Hollywood Muscle&#8217;.<span id="more-2801"></span></p>
<p>The 22 minute video aims to find out why the Muscle car is still the star of the silver screen. Featuring the Bullitt Mustang and of course Eleanor it&#8217;s well worth the watch.  The video also feautres other non Mustangs but it&#8217;s from about the 5:00 mark that you want to watch.</p>

<p>Well the wait is over and the <strong><a href="http://www.classic-recreations.com/index.php">Classic Recreations website</a></strong> has just gone live with what is some really exciting news that this I certainly did not expect. <strong>Carroll Shelby</strong> has granted Classic Recreations a license to create an iconic continuation official <strong>Shelby GT500CR</strong><span id="more-2815"></span></p>
<p>“I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to work with a legend like Carroll Shelby,” said Classic Recreations owner Jason Engel. “We pride ourselves on building the finest coachbuilt muscle cars in the world, and I&#8217;m thrilled that this new opportunity will allow us to build some of the fastest and coolest supercars on the road today. Other shops build cars. We sit down with a client, listen to their fantasies, and then turn those into reality.” </p>
<p>Every Shelby GT500CR will be built with authentic Shelby Performance parts and with input and oversight from Carroll Shelby Licensing and Shelby Automobiles technical staff. Each car built at the Classic Recreations facility will leave the shop with an official Shelby serial number, badges and will be included in the official Shelby Worldwide Registry. More details on the new model will be released shortly. </p>
<p>&#8220;We are still working out a few details, but I know Shelby fans will love the new car,&#8221; Engel said. &#8220;It retains the most iconic Shelby elements everyone loves with modern performance and supercar level horsepower. Then add the panache of having a real Shelby GT500CR complete with a serial number and the man&#8217;s name right on the rocker panel. For Mustang fans, you absolutely can&#8217;t beat that.&#8221;</p>
<p>Classic Recreations is the first custom car builder to receive an official license to build the new GT500CR model. </p>

<p>This time I wanted to make sure that lights were extremely secure, and after seeing a cool HID Retrofit on an old mini and how they made an eclosure to protect the unit. With this in mind I <span id="more-2770"></span>had my retrofitter do something similar.</p>
<p>Take a look at the photos. You can see we&#8217;ve enclosed the entire unit in a PVC round enclosure.  It looks great and solid, however we also did note that it would not fit into the the Mustang. </p>
<p>I know we&#8217;ll need to do some cutting and I can only hope we can get these in other wise it will be yet another expensive headlight exercise. Fingers crossed.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll post up some more detailed photos when they arrive, probably next week sometime.</p>

Though this week at the <strong><a href="http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/topsales.aspx?aid=303&#038;sd=10/08/2009&#038;ed=10/10/2009&#038;c=30">Barrett Jackson auction</a></strong> in Las Vegas Riley PM auctioned off the first of their Shelby Continuation vehicles. The <strong><a href="http://www.rileyrpm.com/#/hot-rod-hayride/4533712131">Shelby GT500 SE</a></strong>.<span id="more-2723"></span></p>
<p>Now i&#8217;m not sure what the deal is here. Are they doing what UP was? Are they now building Eleanors under a new name?  Either way they have Carroll Shelby&#8217;s blessing to use his name. So expect to see these cars with Carroll Shelby signature seats, gauges the works.</p>
<p>But back to this car. It sold at auction for a whopping $330,000. </p>
<p>&#8220;The 1st continuation GT500SE Super Snake to be produced. Powered by a Supercharged aluminum Shelby 427 FE with 780hp. Features include the Tremec TKO 5-speed and coilover suspension. Signed by Carroll Shelby at Barrett-Jackson, Palm Beach. &#8221;</p>
<p>She certainly looks great. Here are the full details from the auction:</p>
<p>&#8220;This is the 1st continuation GT500SE Super Snake produced by a licensed Shelby builder under a recent agreement with Carroll Shelby Licensing allowing select builders to produce a very limited number of GT500SE continuation Shelbys. </p>
<p>The GT500SE continuation Shelby line will likely become one of the most exclusive vehicles in the Shelby registry with the GT500SE Super Snake at the top of the line for performance. It is powered by a 780hp all-aluminum Supercharged Shelby big block 427 FE engine and is one of the fastest Shelby cars on the road today. </p>
<p>The Tremec TKO 5-speed transmission and Currie nodular 9-plus rear-end is designed to deliver more horsepower to the rear wheels. It is equipped with front and rear coilover suspension, Baer Brakes and the Chris Alston Chassisworks power steering system to significantly improve handling and performance on the street or the track. </p>
<p>The PSE wheels and G-Force tires provide both style and performance. The exterior styling is further enhanced by sequential tail lights, the Cobra-style LeMans gas lid, Shelby emblems and PIAA front lights. It has been painted Vivid Black with Hellfire Candy Red stripes to provide an even more striking appearance. </p>
<p>This GT500SE also bears the signature of Carroll Shelby across the hood of the car, which it had the honor of receiving at its début during the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Event. It is one of the most impressive Super Snakes ever built and it delivers a level of performance that very few cars in its class can match. The interior includes the GT500SE badging, Shelby-style gauges, center console and the package tray with the PSE spare tire. </p>
<p>The 5-point racing harness and leather interior provide both comfort and safety. The modern air conditioning system keeps the interior cool and the stereo supplies great sound without drowning out the roar of the engine. Don&#8217;t miss this opportunity to own the 1st Shelby GT500SE Super Snake to be produced. </p>
<p>It is an incredible machine. Barrett-Jackson has been notified by the seller of Lot 701 that there is a discrepancy between the VIN on this vehicle and the title issued in the State of Texas. </p>
<p>The seller has discussed this issue with the appropriate agencies in Texas, and will work with the successful bidder to ensure the issue is resolved satisfactorily.&#8221;</p>

<p>It was only a few weeks ago <a href="http://67mustangblog.com/2009/09/bi-xenon-projector-headlight-project/">I posted</a> about my second attempt at a superior headlight system for the Mustang, this time a <strong>Bi-Xenon headlight</strong> setup which would be a big step up from the <a href="http://67mustangblog.com/2007/11/bosch-xenon-projector-headlights-arrive/">single Xenon project</a> I did a year or so ago.  Well good news is it&#8217;s taking shape and looks damn fine! Check out the pics after the jump.<span id="more-2697"></span></p>
<p>My mate who is putting them together for me is great. He&#8217;s quick and his attention to detail is great!  Though we do have one problem which I knew we would encounter.  </p>
<p>Last time with the single Xenon setup it was very tight for space in the car, you could maybe fit a few fingers in before you hit the fram of the engine bay which would make it extremely hard to change the globe but it was do-able.  Now with the Bi-xenon projectors we&#8217;re hell out of room. The projectors themselves are longer. From the front of the headlight lens to the back of the projector without the ignitor cap on is about 5.5&#8243; long. With the ignitor, we are probably looking at about 6&#8243; at least. So all together with some type of rear covering, we are going to be looking at a total length of 6.5&#8243; long at the very most and probably about 6&#8243; girth for the covering of the projector in the rear.</p>
<p>But this is all ok. I&#8217;ve spoken to John, my builder, and if we must we can cut into the frame, I think that&#8217;s what it&#8217;s called. Now don&#8217;t freak out. We&#8217;ve seen this done before with other light setups. Just a small round hole to enable the back of the light to be accessible to change globes and what not. Anyway take a look at the photos. Looks GREAT!</p>

<p>I love hearing about barn finds and this is no exception.  A member over at <strong><a href="http://jalopnik.com/5377160/huge-cache-of-mustangs-can-be-yours-for-700000">Jalopnik</a></strong> accidently stumbled across this yard full of Mustangs after taking a wrong turn.<span id="more-2665"></span></p>
<p>The pictures say it all really, lots look like they are rusting away. There&#8217;s even a <strong>1968 Shelby</strong> by the looks of it. But they can be all yours for a measly $700k</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the nice little write up the member posted on Jalopnik:</p>
<p><em>&#8220;I have just returned from a vacation somewhere tropical. On the way back form a day excursion I chose an alternate way back to the highway. Ok, I made wrong turn somewhere and rolled with it. This &#8220;scenic route&#8221; brought us upon what was recorded by these images. It was my wife who first saw them. &#8220;Oh look, Mustangs!&#8221; I turned my head in time to see a metric shitload of vintage ponies. I immediately turned around and pulled into the driveway. There was a gentleman in the yard who turned out to be the caretaker for the owner of the house/treasure trove. It turns out that the guy who collected all these cars recently succumbed to cancer and his wife wants all these pretty ponies sold en masse for what is by local standards the princely sum of $700 large (I think there plenty of room for negotiation here).</p>
<p>Herein lies my dilemma and why I have not given up exactly where in the Western Hemisphere they are located. Since I am a bit short of the liquid assets for such a transaction, I am looking for someone with sufficient wherewithal. In exchange for the missing info, I want a &#8220;finder&#8217;s fee&#8221; of pick-of-the-litter of one of the ‘Stangs (obviously not one of the Shelbys) plus the old Ford Deuce – FOB, San Diego. I&#8217;ll cover the transport from the Port of SD to my house J In addition to what you can see in the photos, there is also a Fiat 600, a mid-50&#8217;s Chevy sedan and the Model A partially visible is a pickup. That&#8217;s as best as I can recall but I think there&#8217;s more.</p>
<p>I gotta say this was a shocking find. The temperature was about 90 degrees and the humidity was roughly 1000%. Naturally, I was sweating profusely yet as I walked around quickly taking these pictures (we were pressed for time) I had goose bumps. As you see from the images, the cars strewn about the yard were numerous and in various stages of oxidization. I&#8217;d estimate that more than half are savable, the rest will need to be scrapped but may well offer additional parts before succumbing to the crusher (or pulverizer, as the case may be). The most astounding specimens, as you can see, were in the large outbuilding. According to the caretaker, all are in running condition and most were in truly excellent shape. Additionally, there were racks upon racks of parts. Some were used but many were OE new parts that have never left their boxes. A separate outbuilding housed all manner of engines, engine parts and body panels.</p>
<p>The Good Widow will not entertain selling these piecemeal – the buyer must take everything. To the right buyer, this should not be a problem as the parts alone must be worth a small fortune. So, Dear Jalops, I need your help. These gorgeous Ponies need your help. I am perfectly willing to make a return trip to this tropical land with the buyer (on his/her dime) to act as guide/translator and to assist in the cataloging and return of these cars to civilization. While the location is remote, they are easily shippable back to their ancestral homeland. Please spread the word and save the ponies!&#8221;</em></p>

Basically I wanted a headlight system that retained the cars look but came with the modern output. At the time I was only able to purchase single xenon projectors as this is all that was available aftermarket for right hand drive cars.  But now things are a bit different and Bi-Xenon headlamps are now available for right hand drive. Needless to say I’ve now scrapped my previous project and am now having a Bi-xenon set of headlights made up. This time only better.<span id="more-2122"></span></p>
<p>Last time I had the inside of the housing finished in a matte black. Giving a modern look as you can see here.  Though after this was done I had a niggling thought about how it takes away from the vintage look. So luckily I have a chance to do it again. </p>
<p>I’ve purchased a <a href="http://store.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&#038;products_id=141&#038;osCsid=c37f1f5d76390b97096a67f81dd9c451">RHD FX-R Bi-Xenon</a> kit from <strong><a href="http://www.theretrofitsource.com/">The Retrofit Source</a></strong> along with some <a href="http://store.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&#038;products_id=130&#038;osCsid=c37f1f5d76390b97096a67f81dd9c451">Apollo shrouds</a>. This time we’re going with the vintage look. Keeping silver reflective surface of the headlight itself and just dropping in the bi-xenon projector. </p>
<p>One problem though, these projectors are quite long, so it looks like we’re going to have to cut into the inner walls of the car so the back of the light can poke through. </p>
<p>So what’s the difference between the single xenon projector and the bi-xenon projector? Well to put it simply a single xenon projector is used just for the main headlight and your car would have a separate light for its high beam. Bi-xenon has the main light and the high beam in one projector.</p>
<p>This time around we’re going for a more professional job. We’re going to try and have the rear of the lights inside an enclosure and have the wires neat and clean. The last project was a little dodgy in that respect and my main reason by my personal piece of mind is if I ever have to sell the car and people find wires and heat resistant tape there it would not be a good look. For this reason we’re going for as clean as possible. </p>
