One of the best things about Monday is that we get a new episode of Heroes.  Well tonight’s episode looks like it’s going to be a special treat, especially for Sylar fans. “Tabula Rasa” airs tonight and we’re super excited to see what the Heroes team has crafted for us.  We’re looking forward to opinions going into tonight and also on the episode itself.  The full episode description and synopsis from NBC is below.

Netflix has responded to my inquiries with NBC Universal.  Apparently the NBC employees aren’t sure as to what is going on so they forwarded my requests to Netflix.  The official response: “Netflix has a long standing relationship with NBC Universal and titles regularly come in and out of availability. There is a natural ebb and flow to what we have available at any given point in time.”

I’m not buying any of this and have asked for more information.  The removal of NBC’s top shows isn’t “natural ebb and flow” in my opinion. We’ll keep you updated.

Apparently NBC doesn’t want their content to be viewed instantly by millions of Netflix subscribers.  According to the Netflix Queue, certain NBC shows will no longer be available after October 1st of this year. From what we can tell these shows include Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights.  Although NBC is a backer and supporter for Hulu it’s still surprising that they don’t feel the need for their content to be available via Netflix.  Is this NBC vs. iTunes all over again or is there no chance for the shows to return? I’m sure this all comes down to money and it’s disappointing to say the least.  This puts a stop to an exciting Xbox Live feature we were looking forward to. On Demand Heroes parties, where up to 8 people can view an episode at a time together.  It could very well be a mistake but I doubt it since there’s a report that CBS shows are being pulled as well.  All in all we’ve scoured the web and there’s very little information available about this topic right now.  We’re very curious to see what the mass media has to say and we’ll update this story as we get more information. One interesting thing to note is that Heroes Season 3 does not have an end date like the rest of the NBC shows.  Maybe they’ll keep the most current season and this is an attempt to bump up DVD sales?  Let’s hope Netflix and/or NBC releases an official statement soon.

It’s almost here!  The 5-disc Blu-Ray and 6-disc DVD set will be officially released September 1st as the clock strikes midnight tonight.

With that said, we’re getting very close to the premiere and are beyond excited for what’s to come in Season 4.  September 21st is only 3 weeks away and we’d like to know what you think about the teasers that have been shown.  Will our Heroes succeed in seeking redemption? What does redemption mean exactly for each of our characters?  How long until Sylar realizes he’s in Nathan’s body?  We’ll find out in just 3 short weeks!

Unfortunately these only reflect the dates for the U.S. and do not coincide with release dates in the UK or other countries.  Our friends over seas will be getting the DVD/Blu-Ray on October 12th.  Additionally, the Season 4 air date has yet to be officially confirmed on the BBC but we’ll keep you posted as we find out more information.  However, with bad news we always look for some good news.  It looks like the UK is getting a complete set of Seasons 1-3 with special cover art (as seen above, far right).  What do you think?

We know all too well that the overall response from loyal fans to casual viewers over the past few years has been mixed. So this time we’re really interested in reading articles like this one. What do fans of Heroes want to see this time? What don’t they want to see? And while we’re at it, what do giant pop-culture blogs want to see out of Heroes this year?

As I read through this post I found myself nodding in agreement a few times. We’ve been quick-to-judge posts by IGN in the past, at times probably confusing some constructive criticism with whining and complaining. And while, of course, I don’t agree with every suggestion in the article, I believe every show, especially those with four seasons or more can handle a bit of tough love from fans every now and then.

So while we’re sitting here waiting for Season 4 to begin, let’s open up a discussion about everyone’s expectations for Heroes this year. What would you like to see come Sept. 21st? Do you agree/disagree with IGN? What are your expectations for Heroes in its 4th season? (Leave a Comment)

Still, I find the chalk lines being there a little odd, don’t you? That would mean that she’s been lying there long enough for a medical examiner to draw them. What’s the delay? Is she afraid that she’ll be found out, or is there something stuck in her skull?

The Heroes panel at Comic Con 2009 was a blast! First, we apologize for not being able to provide live updates this year. The Indigo ballroom at the Hilton was a giant telecommunications dead zone. So without further delay let’s get to what you all really want to hear!

At the panel this year was Tim Kring, Jack Coleman, Masi Oka, Hayden Panettiere, Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimiglia, Robert Kneppler, Dawn Oliveri, Ray Park, & Madeline Zima.

Tim Kring started out the panel by thanking the fans at Comic Con for helping Heroes grow into the show that it has become since introducing the show at Comic Con 2006. The cast even stood up and applauded the fans (pictured above). Kring then gave the audience the setup for Volume 5. Essentially, now that the government is no longer a threat to the heroes, they’re all trying to get some normalcy back into their lives.

“Everyone’s going back to their ordinary lives. But what IS an ordinary life? Do you hide, assimilate or try to fit in? That’s the question this year…”

Kring also says that we’ll be introduced to a new set of characters, a group of people who’ve found a unique way to hide their abilities in plain sight using a traveling carnival as their cover.

The first question asked to the entire cast was “Where are your characters at the beginning of Volume 5?”

Jack Coleman (Noah Bennett) – Noah is at a place where he thinks he’s setting up this new company, but it turns out his world is falling apart around him (his marriage). Noah has a newfound empathy for people with abilities and there’s less interest in bagging & tagging. He’s trying to find solid ground.

Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) – Hiro starts off where he left off (the nosebleed situation). He’s going through an illness. He gets some bad news and then realizes what his true destiny in life is. He goes back to Yamagato Industries and starts a new business with his friend Ando. Hiro thinks he only has a few days or weeks left to live, so he’s trying to make the most of it.

Hayden Panettiere (Claire Bennett) – Claire goes to college and becomes friends with an “interesting” girl (her roomate, played by Madeline Zima). Who eventually finds out about her abilities.

Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) – Sylar and Nathan get into a Jeckyll & Hyde situation and by mid-season it gets very interesting.

Zachary Quinto (Sylar) - Sylar is going to exist in two places at the beginning of this season. He starts to emerge. Sylar will also somehow get inside of Matt Parkman’s head.

Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli) – Peter is back to being a paramedic. He’s a kid with a golden heart, but throughout the show he’s been shot at, stabbed, died, and stabbed again; his whole family has tried to screw him over. He’s seen it all now, he’s more humorous, and he smiles more easily, but he’s still a guy who will swing back harder if somebody swings at him.

At this point the four new cast members had a chance to tell us where their characters would begin on the show:

Robert Knepper (Samuel) – Samuel’s the reluctant ringleader of the Carnival. His brother just passed away. He’s going to start a new life and he’s bringing the people from the Carnival with him.

Dawn Oliveri (Lydia) – Lydia is a part of the Carnival and her ability is centered around tatoo’s that magically appear on her body. Dawn reassured the audience that Lydia is going to stir up some trouble.

Ray Park (Edgar) – Edgar is also part of the Carnival. Everyone in the Carnival has abilities. Edgar likes to play with knives and has Super Speed. Edgar is sent out into the world by Samuel. The members of the Carnival want to find redemption, they want to have peace.

Madeline Zima (Gretchen) – Gretchen is a freshman at college with Claire. She becomes Claire’s first true friend since Season 1.

One of the most interesting discussions on the panel was on the topic Hiro’s ’specific’ redemption. Masi Oka said that Hiro’s power will begin to go out of control. But his specific redemption is going back in time and fixing his mistakes. Going on the theme that he thinks he’s about to die, this is sort of his “bucket list.” he wants to make amends.

The panel wrapped up with a question about “When will Peter be a badass?” and Milo said that he had a clip to show everyone. The lights went down and we were treated to a scene of Peter & Noah encountering Edgar (the knife-throwing super speeder) and during the encounter Peter steals his ability and goes toe-to-toe, fighting with Edgar while Noah can do nothing but watch as two blurry figures zip around the room.

Last year’s SDCC Heroes panel completely packed the San Diego convention center’s largest venue Hall H, which seats more than 6,500.

Derek and Myself will be in attendance again, and as we’ve said before, the best part about Comic Con is getting to meet and hang out with many of you while we’re all down in San Diego enjoying the great food, great weather, and the most amazing comic & pop-culture convention in the world!

We’re going to have many meet-ups/tweet-ups while we’re there. With that said, it has been a strange ride for Fuller. First he’s on the crew, then he leaves, later decides to come back (with a ton of  fan support I might add) and now he’s stepping down once again.  It doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the show or any of the crew but in his words “the plate — she was over-flowing.”  This due to the fact that he’s writing “multiple pilots for NBC.”

While this isn’t the best news we’ve heard, it’s not the worst.  He will still be a part of the creative team from a producing stand point and there are already so many great writers and directors that make up this crew, I’m sure it will be a great season. We do wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing his future pilots come to fruition.

Update: The website that broke the news about Heroes’ involvement with Comic-Con has updated their article to say that heroes will have a “presence” at Comic-Con but unfortunately not a “panel” More info here…

For about a week now, rumors have been circulating that a big show will not be returning to Comic-Con this year. As more and more TV shows confirmed their panel times, Heroes was not showing up on any of those lists.  This left many of us thinking that there may not be a Heroes panel after all.

Well put those worries to rest because the Chicago Tribune has just confirmed (with Tim Kring himself) that Heroes WILL be presenting a panel and will also have some new footage for us in San Diego. Kring says: “I plan on being there, along with some cast and writer/producers, etc,”  “And we’re fully expecting to have a great sneak peek at Season 4 to show. The fans that come to Comic-Con are the best, most loyal that we have. We wouldn’t miss it.” NOTE: Comic-Con 2009 is currently sold out. Read the full story after the jump: ChicagoTribune.com

Madeline Zima is most recently recognizable for her role as Mia Lewis on the Showtime series “Californication.”  She’s also set to be in a few feature films later this year but some of you might remember her as little Grace Sheffield from Fran Drescher’s series “The Nanny” (1993-1999).  Well now she’s all grown up and heading over to Heroes.  From what we’ve learned the premiere episode is tentatively titled “Orientation” and that just might involve this new character.  I’m sure we’ll know more when filming begins so stay tuned.

We weren’t expecting too much Heroes centric news after the finale, however we were stunned to learn that Greg Beeman (Executive Producer/Director) was no longer going to be a part of the Heroes staff. Beeman posted on his blog that he would not be returning for season 4. He starts off by saying “Dearest readers, this is a sad moment for me, as it will be, not only my final blog for Season 3, but also my final blog for HEROES.” Beeman goes onto give an amazing farewell to every cast and crew member he worked with and that alone is a testament to his character and the amazing person that he is.  Beeman came over to work on Heroes after being an integral part of Smallville and what a job he did.  Not only was he a major part of the production staff and writing team, he was also responsible for directing some of the finest episodes of Heroes to date.  To say the least, Greg Beeman will be missed greatly.

NBC didn’t give us too much time to digest this before delivering more bad news.  We recently learned that Allan Arkush, another amazing Executive Producer and Director, was also “let go” in an attempt to trim the budget.  This is another huge shock considering Allan came over to Heroes after executive producing and directing for Tim Kring’s previous creation “Crossing Jordan.”  Like Beeman, Arkush was responsible for many stellar episodes of Heroes and he will be missed dearly.

With that said, we’ve lost two key figures that were responsible for making Heroes such a success.  Arkush and Beeman were both a part of Heroes from the beginning along side Tim Kring and they brought a magic that will be hard to duplicate. In fact, right after the first episode “Genesis” was directed by Tim Kring, episode 2 “Don’t Look Back” was directed by Allan Arkush and episode 3 “One Giant Leap” was directed by Greg Beeman. They were both executive producers at that time as well. Without their creative input it will be interesting to see what direction the series is headed but we have faith it will not stray far from the precedence they’ve established.

On a positive note, they have both left the door open to possibly come back and direct some episodes during season 4. Nothing is official at this time but it would be nice to at least have them back to direct a few episodes. From what we know, this was a choice by NBC/Universal to trim down the budget going into next season and nothing more than a financial decision.  Greg Beeman and Allan Arkush deserve a ton of credit and we wish them the best!

Nominations have been posted for the 2009 Webby Awards and the online Heroes series The Recruit has made the cut.  The webisode has landed two nominations this year in different categories; Drama Individual Episode & Drama: Series. What’s interesting are the results are shown in real-time all the way up to the final day.  Currently, Heroes is in the lead for Individual Episode and running 2nd right behind “Speedie Date” for Drama: Series. PlayStation 3 owners rejoice!  What seems to be long overdue, Sony has announced that NBC Universal will now be offering their content via the PlayStation network.  PS3 owners can download episodes of The Office, 30 Rock and Heroes as well as a few popular Universal movies. I decided to take a look myself and sure enough all the content is already available for download.  Heroes has all 3 seasons to choose from in Standard Definition or High Definition and the prices are on par with the rest of the TV content.  Episodes in Standard Definition will cost you $1.99 while High Definition episodes get you for $2.99.

Whether Greg has any advance knowledge about Heroes’ renewal, we can’t say. But we won’t stop holding our breath until NBC makes it official.

I am sad to say that I am no longer with Heroes. NBC decided to cut back on the budget for the show and part of that plan involved downsizing on the lower level writers.

We thought for sure that NBC would go with the obvious choice “Puppet Man,” but no such luck. We’ll post more information about the new series as it comes in.

With some help from the latest Official Heroes Magazine and confirmation on twitter from Wendy and Lisa themselves, it looks like they’ll be releasing a Heroes Score Album soon.  From what we know, the original story actually hit EW late last year but recent twitter posts indicate we will have it in a month (see twitter conversation after the jump).  So far what we do know is that the disc will revolve around short music cues, mostly from season one, and include longer tracks for about 10 main characters. From the article: “The first will be Peter, the second one is Claire, and so on.”  Click on the article image for the full read!  Keep in mind, things can change at any time but we’ll keep you posted as more news comes in.

The results are in, and Heroes just won the People’s Choice award for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy show! Some will remember that Heroes has had success with the PCA’s in the past; especially in 2007 when the show took home Best New Drama for Season 1. If you were one of the folks who voted, take a moment to pat yourself on the back. It’s nice to see Heroes grab a little recognition while we gear up for Volume Four. Congrats to everyone at Heroes!

The Volume 3 finale, and Jeph Loeb’s final episode of Heroes once known as “War” then, “Duality” then, “Duel” is now being listed as “Dual” on NBC.com’s official write-up of the episode. Aron & Joe mentioned in our interview late last week that they had seen the episode presented both ways (Duel and Dual) so the name change isn’t too surprising. But hey, we’ll watch the episode no matter what it’s called. Don’t miss “Dual” on Monday at 9pm

This may be sad news for “Pushing Daisies” fans, but since Pushing Daisies has been canceled Bryan Fuller is expected to be back on the “Heroes” writing staff starting with Episode 20 of Season 3. The Hollywood Reporter says that Fuller has inked a 2 year deal with Universal Media Studios worth over seven figures. Fuller will be back until the end of Season 3 when he may either continue working with Heroes or join another project for Universal. We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out.

Bryan Fuller worked on Heroes as a writer and co-executive producer until the end of Season 1 when he left to create “Pushing Daisies” for ABC. He also wrote both “Collision” and “Company Man”.

For those of you unfamiliar with the name, Bryan Fuller was a co-executive producer for 16 episodes and a consulting producer for 6 more during the first season of Heroes. Fuller departed after season 1 to become the executive producer of the ABC series Pushing Daisies.

Bryan’s known for writing two great episodes of Heroes, “Collision” the 4th episode of season 1 and fan favorite “Company Man,” the 17th episode of season 1. This would be a welcome come back for Fuller considering he’s familiar with the magic behind Heroes and is widely respected by the Heroes cast.
