Why do I still have acne?

I eat a gluten free, extremely limited diet that consists only of avocados, apples and berries and pomegranates, spinach and lettuce or any other vegtables, only ORGANIC plain yogurt or keifer with stevia and flax seeds/chia seeds, walnuts, almonds, sunflower kernels, beans and lentils (always rinsed and drained, added with sea salt and a little olive oil), quinoa, oily omega-3 rich fish such as salmon and sardines, sometimes chicken breasts, lean pork and wild game meats (my uncle goes hunting a lot). That’s basically it! I eliminated red meat, milk/cheese, sugar-induced fruits like papaya, mango, pineapple, potatoes of all kinds, rice, gluten, bread, obviously sugar, honey, and basically anything that tastes good. I’ve avoided trans fats/ processed foods for over 3 years!! I swear to god i have not eaten one piece of pizza, cake, a cookie, a scoop of ice cream, a candy bar, a soft pretzel, or whatever in that long of time. I feel depleted and exhausted. I limit my diet so damn much, i dont get it!! I’m a 15 year old female, 101 lbs and 5’4.5”. I must admit I’m underweight, and I have to blame that on eating salads with no dressing for years, day after day, twice. Right now I’m trying to put on weight, my acne has been the same. I wash my face every morning/night with a moisturizing kheils cleanser and use a kheils acne/photo-aging/scar kit. And that comes down to over $100 in skin care products!! I know I’m getting only the best. I HAVE TO SAY that my skin is pretty good, just not great. I have one zit on my forehead that’s like deep down in my skin, a few red bumps on my jawline, one on my upercheek, and some little colorless bumps on my left nose/ mouth area (like 5 microscopic bumps). But the thing is I have scars and it makes it look sooooooo much worse! Yeah sure, I can over up the scars perfectly with makeup but it still doesnt give me confidence because I can never leave the house with out my oil-free, salaiyic acid concealer. Does anyone have any sugestions? My mom is getting worried because I’m losing so much weight but I just can’t fill up my body with horrible processed foods. I seriously need help with my skin! I really could use anyone’s support or tips- I would apprecaite it so much! Thank you for whoever took the time to read this and whoever actually cares

4everyoung answers:

Protein & fat is essential to good health.

Salads without fats means that no vitamins or minerals were ingested. Fats are required to make vitamins & minerals bioavailable so they can be incorporated into the body. Even cod liver oil is absorbed better if added to saturated fats.

The body requires protein & fats to regenerate skin. Unless adequate fuel calories are ingested, what protein is eaten is converted to fuel leaving no protein for cellular need & forcing the body to catabolize it’s own lean tissues for nutrition. There is no nutrition in fat stores, only energy.

If you are losing weight, then obviously you aren’t providing your body with enough nutrition to survive – the body can’t regenerate when you don’t even provide enough nutrition to generate. You’ll be lucky if bad skin is the only problem you are creating.

Angelina Jolie discussed her bad experiences with a vegan diet.

“I joke that a big juicy steak is my beauty secret,” said Jolie. “But seriously, I love red meat. I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition.”

This is not an uncommon complaint among former vegans; the limitations of the diet require extra diligence to make sure you get proper nutrients.

For optimal health, I advocate a low carb way of eating. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories, because insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone) isn't activated.

I personally believe in using fat as fuel instead of carbohydrates. Fat is totally benign in the absence of insulin. There aren't enough calories in vegetables & fruits to fuel the body, if you get enough calories from carbs to fuel the body, then you maintain an almost constant high insulin level with roller coaster blood glucose levels. I recommend fats from butter, coconut, olives, avocados, nuts, fish & meats, chia seeds & flax seeds.

When you restrict higher carb, lower nutrition foods, it becomes much easier to greatly increase vegetables in your diet. Change your mindset just adapt it to low carb -
replace bread with lettuce
replace pasta with cabbage
replace rice with cauliflower
replace potatoes with brocolli

High carb levels trigger insulin which unbalance other hormones, promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones and allow sex hormones (testosterone in men) & human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin, the fat storage hormone. Protein triggers the fat burning hormone, glucagon.

Highly nutritious foods you should consider: avocados, sardines, sprouts, spirulina, paprika, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, garlic, brewers yeast, raw almonds, ground flax seeds & chia seeds.

need advice on good face creams and moisturizers (natural/organic)?

Ok, I need advice from some people knowledgable in this subject.

I’m a man, in his mid-20′s, who needs skin care help. Now, I am often told I look older, 30ish, not in a bad way, I just have a mature look. But, it bugs me, I aged a lot in the past few years. Mostly, I believe, moving to Arizona and riding my back in the Arizona sun.

I had acne problems my entire life and finally got it under control the passed few years, mostly with diet (strict no-dairy/ no-wheat/ no processed foods)and proper facial washing- so I have oily skin. But, I don’t moisturize or do any of that stuff, but, in fear of aging worse and worse, I’d like to slow it down.

So, I need help, I use alba pineapple facial scrub in the morning, with the hibiscus toner, then at night I use Neutrogena acne face wash (the orange crap) with the toner, then neutrogena moisturizer (recently added the past few months, it works ok I guess).

Does anyone have any AMAZING facial creams I can add before bed, preferably all-natural or organic? Plus, a good facial cream for the morning, nothing too heavy and wont make me look greasy.

If you cut open a Vitamin E capsule and rub the oil into your skin about half an hour before showering, it will penetrate and soften your skin.

There’s a product called Bio-Oil www.bio-oil.com/en/ingredients/index.html which isn’t wholly natural although it does have a lot of natural ingredients, and this is a WONDERFUL skin repairer!!

You might also like to try a weekly face mask/mud pack, they’re great for cleansing/softening the skin.

Hope’s Relief www.hopes.com.au is a lovely natural cream which is especially for problem skin conditions, I have used it on my face though when I’ve run out of moisturiser and it’s lovely, penetrates and soaks in almost instantly, so this would be a good one for the morning, to leave no residue.

The most important thing you can do apart from cleansing gently and moisturising is to use high protection sunscreen every day, and wear a wide brimmed hat.

The products I’ve mentioned are readily available in Australia (our sun is pretty harsh too lol) but I’m sure would either be available in the US or could be shipped there. They really are excellent!

What products will clear my acne.?

OK, please don’t answer with long detailed lists that you have copied and pasted that blabber about the importance of water and zinc and beeswax and egg whites and lemon and tea tree oil and vitamins etc. Trust me I’ve been through it all. Natural supplements, home remedies, drinking 3-4 litres of water a day for months, all natural skin care products, essential oils. Don’t bother with repeating them.

I’ve given up on airy-fairy organics and ‘remedies’ and decided to go back to chemicals and toxins which have a higher chance of clearing my acne. I am 18 and have had it mild since 14. It is hereditary I know that. I will allow a month for these products to work. I’m seriously thinking about replacing my organic cleanser with Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, medicating with PanOxyl/Benzac AC benzoyl peroxide. I’m also wondering about Clinique, ClearPores, Biore and Proactiv. I don’t know and I want your advice. Have you tried any of these? Grr I don’t know what else to say.
First of all let me tell you the best way to avoid pimples is that when ever u get a pimple .. Squeeze the pimple out.. I mean take out the bad blood and the pus , then if you leave it as such you will get a scar ,

Inorder to avoid that after taking the bad blood out just take a piece of cotton and soak it in fresh Lime Juice then apply it in the place of the pimple and clean it .

The scar wont appear.

Now the case is if u had already had a scar just the lime Juice alone wont work out , all you need to do is that take the cotton and soak it in a mixture of lime juice and honey apply it on the scar and wash it after 10 minutes , this reduces the scar as lime is a natural Bleach.

You probably just collect more sweat there than other places and it cause bacteria to form. It could also be from taking care of your eyebrows. Do you pluck or wax? Consider if that may be the cause. And since you’re 15, you’re bound to get a little acne at one point or another. Just don’t let it rule your life because I promise people really don’t notice it.

Niacinamide face cleansing pads are effective and simple way to keep acne away. Just place a pad on the pimple and watch it fade away.
Niacinamide pads are also known as Nicotinamide pads or Vit B3 pads.
Give them a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Women’s skin ages faster than men’s?

I was wondering recently why I have so many female friends in their early 30s who I would easily believe were in their late 30s/early 40s, while at the same time have so many male friends in their mid-late 30s who could pass for being in their late 20s/early 30s. I have always found it odd that men seem to age so much better than women when women generally take better care of their skin. Up until recently I dismissed it as a societal bias and figured that women didn’t really age faster, society was just less accepting of their aging. Lately it has become pretty apparent that this is not the case, so I did a search on google and came across a few articles such as this one:

http://www.livescience.com/health/061003_women_skin.html

My question is, although I believe in aging gracefully and not trying too hard to look younger than one really is (generally this ends with the person looking ridiculous), I also would like to not age prematurely. Are there any proven products, foods, etc. that aid in collagen production/retaining? I take pretty decent care of my skin by always wearing sunscreen on my face and neck, avoiding harsh makeups and using a moisturizer regularly, but if there is something else (within reason) that I can do to keep my skin healthy then I would like to know what it is.
I don’t actually spend much time worrying or thinking about this. I spend about a total of 10-15 minutes a day on my entire skin care and make-up routine. I looked it up more out of curiousity. If I am going to age prematurely, so be it. There are more important things than being beautiful and young looking; however, I also believe in taking care of my mind, body and soul. When I am exercising, eating well and taking care of myself I am a much happier person. Taking care of my skin is a part of that. I have to live in it for the rest of my life. I should treat it well. Afterall, where would I be without it?
mrsross…. I agree with you about the makeup… some of the crap they put in that stuff is pretty gross! I actually only use bare escentuals and have for about 3-4 years. Tanning is pretty bad too… I have one friend who tans about 2x per week and although she is only about 27, her skin looks at least 35.

I think the reason it seems like women age faster than men is because even though we try so hard to look young we do things that are pretty awful for our skin whereas men usually don’t do these same things. Women use makeup on their face almost everyday, this is majority of women. We use foundations and concealors and powders which all make lines worse and dry out the skin. It also weighs the skin down causing sagging. On top of this alot of women tan which is REALLY bad for you skin. It is hard to bounce your skin back once you have sun damage because it is such a deep damage. It takes years to repair if your skin is young enough, otherwise it will not heal really ,if at all. Junk food is not the greatest either. An apple a day keeps the wrinkles away is my motto. Eat a healthier diet and you shall see changes in your skin. Water is your friend. There is a facial cleanser that I recently have seen on QVC called Clarisonic and I saw several demonstrations on it being used and how it works, it works the same way as a sonicare toothbrush. It massages and cleanses the facial skin with tiny moving brushes. I haven’t tried it yet but would recommend it from what I have seen. Also sunscreen is a big hooray in any woman’s regimen because it will help keep it safe from the sun’s harmful rays. Moisturizer is a must everytime you wash your face, put some on asap after. These are the general rule of thumb. If you follow these and try to avoid heavy makeup then you should be good. Bareescentuals is a good makeup though because it is actually good for your skin. Good luck!

If you have combination skin you should be exfoliating regularly, at least 2 x a week!!!!!!! You can use baking soda; after you wash your face, leave the lather on and pour some baking soda in the palm of your hand..add water, a few drops at a time, until it forms a paste, but not too runny….then starting at your forehead, use circular, gentle, massaging movements and work your way down your face; go all over the face at least 3 times; then rinse rinse rinse with COOL NOT COLD water and blot dry.do this twice a week…..As far as mens’ skincare, you can always try plain old baby lotion or cocoa butter……as a former makeup artist, it amazes me how people willingingly spend SO MUCH money on stuff they don’t have to spend so much money on!! An emollient is all you need; thus, any moderately-priced product, such as baby lotion or cocoa butter, to name a few, would be just fine for you..Save your money for the fun stuff; clothes, perhaps a favorite cologne, etc…..if you have any further questions, email me…good luck!!

In some of the classes I’ve taken, I was told that the size of your pores doesn’t change. We’re also always the most critical with ourselves and our own appearances. Nobody else would notice if your pores were enlarged anyway, and I promise you that. There’s no need to waste your money on products like that.

Bacitracin (neosporin) is a good way to keep it clean. Keep the wound sealed up and limit its movement. There is no sure fire way to prevent scars. The first responses of your immune system (swelling, pus) greatly dictate how well the wound will heal. The body automatically starts filling in the void with tissue and it doesn’t care what it looks like.

After many years of research I found this to be the quickest, safest, most effective treatment. Massage with a quite strong, vigorous motion with a forward and back motion using finger tips and front and sides of fingers depending where you are massaging. Some may tell you to massage gently but it’s been only beneficial for many who have tried it.(see my B.A) I know that oil, massage oil or whatever, is always associated with breakouts but there are many on Answers with acne scars, large pores and oily skins who have benefited by it (I have emails from those who swear by it). The massaging friction forces a clearer skin to emerge with pores and scars greatly reduced – see almost immediate results and in 4 to 7 days, depending on how vigorously you massage, they wil be nearly gone. Best to massage daily for 15 to 20 min. Skin has to adjust & if soreness, or reactions happen – stop & resume when you can. Totally and permanently rid my skin of pimples, large pores, scars and marks and gave me a flawless, healthy skin.

Healthy skin = good diet, vitamins, lots of water, daily cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing.

Yes my hair is natural, I use any natural water based moisturizer for my hair I think shea butter also is a good moisturizer for hair and they make some for your skin as well.

Split ends? I guess keeping your ends moisturize and getting them routinely clipped Also being gentle with your hair helps.

My hair is locked but if yours isn’t and it’s natural make sure you wear protective styles such as braids (no weave), twist etc.. A style that will kept you from touching your hair so much, over touching and styling can cause dryness and breakage.

I wear a satin scarf to bed.

you can also put egg in it before you take a shower, let it dry, then take a shower.
4everyoung answers:

One month is very less for a healthy skin look.
But if you are consistent, you can achieve some results.
Try using ubtan…i tried that…it works magic, honestly. But you’d have to use it everyday. And it’ll be even better of you get sandal ubtan. If you are an indian resident you’d probably get it very easily but outside india you’d need to either find it online or somewhere. You can get it in pakistan too.

Eat healthy. Stop eating oily stuff. Increase your intake of apples. Make it a habit of eating 5 apples daily atleast. That is great too. Apples have lots of iron. Increases your blood. And don’t forget an apples in the morning before breakfast or even water. And the most important thing: WATER. Water is the best you can do tp have a healthy skin. Drink atleast 8 glasses everyday. In a month it’ll have done soo much good to you and your skin!
And apart from that, eats lots of greens and ask your doctor for iron and vitamin supplements.

Best of luck!
Hope this works for you.
But in anycase, don’t get you hopes too high. You can try these things after your marriage too. That would get you a healthy skin eventually and besides your to-be would love you anyhow.

Miessence is the world’s first certified organic skin care products. They are actually certified FOOD organic, which means, you literally could eat the products and not be poisoned–unless you are actually allergic to whatever’s in it. The company is based in Australia, so if you do decide to try these products, there will be an additional shipping and handling fee. The website is www.onewithearth.com. Other organic companies: www.suncoat.com, www.honeybeegardens.com. Aubrey Organics is pretty good and not too expensive. Kiss My Face and Arbonne have too much chemicals in their products that are harmful to the female hormonal system, such as methylparabens, or any type of parabens, though they claim their products to be good for you.

Check out what the organic consumers Association says about “organic” body care products

http://www.organicconsumers.org

Currently there is no certification for body care as it is the FDA that regulates them and not the USDA that has the national organic program. Legally any body care/cosmetic product can put the word organic on their label even if there are zero organic ingredients and lots of ingredients that would never be allowed if there was organic certification for such

The thing is, the men’s and women’s creams are basiclly not any different, but the “women’s” creams are tested more and are more competitive, so they are better. It is 50.00 for a bottle but mine has lasted 2 and a half months now and after a month I was getting compliments on my complexion. People said I looked glowy and asked what I’ve been doing. I was leary at spending that much but now I wouldn’t go without it. It’s called “Luxiva AHA Intensive Complex.” Worth every penny. I’m 35 BTW.

What breed or breed mix is your dog?

Baby oil is hard to remove. You could try sprinkling corn starch where the oil is, rub it in, then wipe it off with a dry cloth.
You should have applied an anti itch cream with vitamin E to the dry skin only If your dog it scratching a lot.
Adding corn oil to it’s food will also help with dry skin.
Groom him more often for the shedding.

Is this wording rude for a shower invitation?

I think the concept of the shower is great, and your invite is very clever. Everybody understands that baby showers are gift grabs, so it’s not necessarily greedy. Also, you’ve given people ideas for very inexpensive, green gifts. Bravo!

Ear stretching with scar tissue?

My left ear is somewhere between a two and a four; I’m skeptical, because of all the differences in gauge charts from company to company.
It’s been at this size for several months, but I tore it badly earlier on in its stretching, and it developed a lot of scar tissue.
I’ve used hot compresses to try to loosen it up and baby oil to slick the steel tapers, but this thing just won’t budge!
I’m looking for some way to reduce scar tissue inside of the hole in my ear. Not only is it unattractive to look at without jewelry, and undoubtedly will be if I ever take them out to let them heal over, but it makes stretching that ear pretty much impossible.

Prom is only a few weeks away, and my grandma ordered special large-gauge earrings as a birthday gift for the event. They’re organic, and zeros, so I’m pretty pressured to find a way to get this one stretched and healed before the dance.
The other ear is a well-healed zero, and is as healthy as can be.

4everyoung answers:

You might want to try massaging in tea tree oil every day it will help it heal and loosen up the scar tissue also soak your ear every day in warm salt water for about ten minutes.
Other than that i don’t really know what you could do to reduce the scar tissue.
Also if you can’t push the taper in don’t try to force it you will only make the scarring worse if you split the skin again, or don’t let it heal.
Here is a list of gauge sizes,

http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Gauge

hope it helps.
Also if your ear is at a 4g do not try to go to a 0g especially with previously ripped ears, it shouldn’t be painful so be careful.
Good luck

Food Questions – Almost 8 Months

Since my son started solids he has had cereals and I have made all his fruit & veg myself. My mom’s friend brought over a gift bag full of jarred foods… I am very thankful that she thought of us and would bring us anything but… I’m nervous to give them to him. They are all completley organic so that is great but I’m worried he will like it more than he likes the food I make for him and stop eating what I make. What do you think?
Also, I was reading about apples and I have always steamed them for my son because my mom told me my first food was apple sauce that she made. Only she didnt know to cook them and so she used raw apples and i got a REALLY bad rash… I dont want this to happen to my son. But today I was reading on a website that you can give frozen apple in the baby safe feeder to help with teething. Is this true? Is it ok for him to have raw apples now? We just had our first diaper rash last week and I dont really want to go through that again if I can help it.
Also, can I add spices to the food I make? I know not to use any salt, but what about things like dill in his carrots, or cinnamon in his apples?

4everyoung answers:

I started making my son’s foods, but after a few allergic reactions (and lots of frozen cubes I now can’t use), I gave up and went with the organic jarred food. At first, my son wanted nothing to do with the jarred stuff. He completely turned his nose up at the sweet potatoes (which was his favorite of the things I made), and it took him a while for squash, too. Now he’s ok with either homemade or jarred, but at first I felt kinda good– he liked MY cooking better!

You can add spices to the foods you make, but just continue to follow whatever you’ve been doing (3-day, 4-day, 1-week, whatever) on introducing new foods. In other words, treat each spice as a new food.

And as for the apples, you can give him raw apples. If you’re really worried, start slowly. I’ve given my 8 month old raw apples, and he was fine, but you never know how your baby will react.

1. Get the chocolate out the calander and breathe
2. Make a list of all of the things to get done. Leave cleaning because by Thursday it will be messy again and you’ll have to repeat it all.
4. Finish making the baby food before it spoils.
3. Write your Christmas cards and get them in the post before it’s too late.
4. If you get chance today finish the gifts and see if you can make the extra gift you need.
5. When baby is asleep tonight try and wrap presents, if not wrap tomorrow.
6. Leave the tree until Monday or Tuesday. You won’t need it for pictures until the end of the week.
7. Save this as a reminder to start a little earlier next year.

This happened to me, too. For the 20 dollar gift, find something you already have, or take a bunch of cookies and put them in a pretty basket. Put in some candy canes, some tea bags, and that should be good. Or you can put some candy and cookies in a mug. Christmas cards- dump them and send out new years cards instead. That way you can buy yourself some time, because then Christmas will be over and you should have more time. If you have to, try ecards- they’re a lot easier and free. For the Christmas dinner, don’t bother making everything. Buy a pie and warm it up, and buy some decorative cookies and a cake or something like that. Get some boxed mashed potatoes and gravy from a package. No one will be able to tell. Or have something where everyone brings in a dish. The tree is easy- if you already have one, just set it up right now. It doesn’t take that long, and it will be one thing that you don’t have to do later.

4everyoung answers:

As a man, you have an advantage with skincare because men’s skin tends to be thicker and oilier than women’s. Men also typically shave which acts as a form of exfoliation so you are less likely to wrinkle on those areas. With that said, below is what I recommend. I added an example of what I use personally to help guide you but it is by no means necessary for you to purchase those items. I just like them personally because I purchased everything at Target except for one item and they are all relatively affordable. Just make sure you do this twice a day (morning and before bed). I know I am a woman but I recommend all this to both sexes because it will work.

1. Cream cleanser. Use this with absolutely no water. Simply apply all over your dry face in circular motions, avoiding the eyes. You can then rinse it off with water or a damp washcloth but be sure not to use any water when you are first working this on your face. Ex: Boots Botanics Organic Facial Cleanser $7.99 at Target.
2. Alcohol-free toner. Squirt onto a couple of cotton pads and wipe all over your face, avoiding the eyes. Ex: Boots Expert Sensitive Gentle Refreshing Toner $3.99 at Target.
3. Daytime moisturizer and night cream. During the day you need a moisturizer to act as a barrier for your skin to hold in moisture. At night you need a cream that will replenish the moisture you lost throughout the day. Ex: Boots Expert Sensitive Light Moisturizing Lotion for day from Target (don’t remember the price but I know it’s around $8) and Boscia Recharging Night Moisture from Sephora which is $44. Night creams are more expensive and the right ones are difficult to find. Read the ingredients to make sure mineral oil isn’t one of the ingredients for the night cream you choose as that will not penetrate the skin.
4. Eye cream. Use an amount about half the size of a grain of uncooked rice (yes, very little). Rub this between both ring fingers and then gently tap it on the bone surrounding the eye moving all the way up to above your brows. Never rub this all over your eyelids. Eyes age the most and the fastest so eye cream will help prevent premature aging. You should use one even if you are young and don’t have wrinkles yet. Ex: Boots Botanics Organic Face Moisturizing Eye Cream $14.99 from Target.
5. Yogurt. Go to the grocery store and pick up a lemon, orange, or pineapple flavored yogurt (make sure the yogurt isn’t the kind with fruit at the bottom but is actually that fruit flavor) and then apply it all over your clean face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. You can then rinse it off with lukewarm water. The active cultures in yogurt will help neutralize the bacteria in your pores so it will help heal any blemishes you have currently and also help prevent new ones. The citric acid from the lemon, orange, or pineapple will also help dissolve the top layer of your skin (just like using a scrub to exfoliate but much more gentle). You can do this every day if your skin is really bad or just 1-2 times a week as a preventative measure.

I hope this has helped but if you have a question, need me to clear something up, or want to know why I recommend each product, please feel free to e-mail me. You can do so through my profile.

African American men hair care?

My hair seems to be dry and itchy most of the time, and no matter what I use I can’t see to get rid of it. Only a few days after I wash it does it seem to be ok, then my hair starts to get flaky, not sure if its dandruff or dry skin. I bought shampoos for both conditions, but that didn’t seem to help either. I don’t really put much on my hair besides grease. after a few days it gets oily and itchy faster, so I try not to use too much of it. I’ve read grease is bad for hair, but I haven’t found any alternatives. Olive oil didn’t work either, it had the same effect grease did after a few days. What should I wash my hair with (should I use conditioner too?) and how often should I wash it? How often should I use a hair care product like grease or a light oil in my hair as well?

I have the same problem.
My solution is to just wash my hair more often. I do this thing called “co-washing” which is washing your hair with conditioner only. It prevents it from drying out.

I think the problem might be because I have oily skin and my scalp needs to be clarified more often maybe? I don’t know but, I love washing my hair anyways so.. It works.

With the grease it’s not the best thing for your hair. Here’s a video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xV1hXZUlPQ&feature=channel_video_title but, with the oil use it whenever you wash your hair right after while your hair is still wet.

Yes, you should use conditioner.

Try a pomade as an alternative to grease. Something that contains beeswax instead of petroleum or mineral oil.

Advice on Skin Care regime?

Ok, well I’m an 18 year old guy and I just need some advice on a couple of skincare ideas…

To begin, basically I have pretty sensitive and dry skin, and it is also slightly acne prone. I finished taking an isotane (anti-acne) course about two months ago, which got rid of most of my acne, although I have some marks on my checks.

In the morning and and night I use “neutrogena oil free acne wash, cream cleanser” w salicylic acid. Then I moisturize with L’OREAL men expert hydra-sensitive.

Occasionally, I use “Garnier Prue active blackhead clearing scrub” w salicylic acid as a exfoliater.
Last of all I have just begun using Benzac AC 2.5% to combat occasional spots.

Now for the questions…

Is it normal for my skin to feel tight/dry after cleansing and before moisturizing?

Also recently i have been getting whiteheads around my mouth and chin, what could be causing this and what would be the best way to stop it? (I have been told that using lip balm a lot can cause this, which I have stopped as of yesterday)

What could I use to help remove acne scars on my checks?

Finally, is the products I use good for my skin type? (sensitive/dry)
What other products could you recommend that would be beneficial while also keep away basic acne?
Does my regime cover all the basics of skincare?

Thanks in advance

I personally use Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser Mask to dry up acne. As far as your dry skin goes I would try to moisturize right after you cleanse, while your face is still damp. Now for acne scars you could try a laser treatment, it would actually help your acne as well. Those are pretty expensive, but well worth it.

I have horrible skin. Why is this happening to me?

I have horrible, cystic acne ridden skin. I started having acne when i was 9 years old and I am now 15. I have been to 8 very professional dermatologists but they all failed and kept pointing me to the next best one until i reached one of the best dermatologists in the country. But still, he failed. I have tried proactive and clearasil with horrific results. acne md, skin id, all the big products. they all made it worse. I’ve tried every kind of extreme acne treatment, every kind of medicine, and i eat no sugar or saturated fats, no greasy meat, nothing. I eat all organic and i constantly drink water all day and herbal tea with every meal. but last month i did the unthinkable and ate a slice of cake and after that my skin was complete hell for a week. I get plenty of vitamins and minerals and protien. change my pillow cases every night, clean my face twice a day, basically, i do everything right, but i just have to face the fact that i am doomed to a life of acne. My father is 58 and he still has acne. he has had it all his life starting around the same age my tragedy began. and my mother also had cystic acne. I don’t have many friends, and this is the reason why. No guy has ever liked me more than an acquaintance and I feel completely disgusting. People think i don’t take care of myself and that i chose this. People tend to avoid me. I also have had a countless number of strangers come up to me in places like walmart or the grocery store and tell me to do the public a favor and get rid of my acne. I think the worst time was when two adults and a guy most likely in his late teen years, all started hollering across the street and told me to put a bag over my head. I am currently trying organic masks and making my own moisturizers and organic acne treatments. It kind of worked, but still, not much of a difference in my appearance. I fear that I will never have a boyfriend and never marry. I want children, but again, i may never have a husband, and i wouldn’t want to bring them into the world, knowing what they may go through because of my mutated genes. Also, who would want to hire me? My chances of being successful are slim if i look like this. I dream of clear, smooth skin on my face just like everyone else. and i dream of no more physical and emotional pain. I usually don’t leave the house unless i have to. whenever i go out I always keep my head down, wear hoodies alot, and i always wear my hair down so i can use it to hide my face. when people look at me, they always have this intimidating look on their face, no one ever sees my eyes, or my hair, they only see my skin and before anyone can get to know me, they immediately decide i’m not friend material. I’m a very shy person and one of my biggest fears is talking to people and being judged by other people. I have thought about suicide a few times. I even tried to think of a plan. But it would be too devastating for my family. It would be extremely selfish and i wouldn’t be able to do it knowing my parents would have to go through the loss. I just don’t know what to do. My skin has taken everything away from me; my hope for the future, my friends, my dignity, my sanity, everything. Why is this happening to me? Where is there a way out besides death?
Already tried accutane for months. never worked
Also i tried proactive and it made my face 3 times worse. and i heard that from many other people too that it made theirs worse. I’m just so hopeless and I’m almost ready to give up since the chances are high that I’ll be just like my dad. I just need to find some way to try to accept it, but i’m just so depressed.

Hi
Yeah it could be a couple of reasons:
1) if u are drinking loads of water your body may be riding itself from under lying toxins, and forming themselves as acne.
2)U maybe allergic to organic food-strange but maybe a fact so get tested for allergies too.

The same happened to me when I began drinking a pint of hot water with lemon in the mornings. Water acts as a flush, therefore you are flushing toxins from your liver and kidneys. Your liver is a huge cleansing machine, think of it that way, sounds like u are actuallt doing your body good My skin got worse, went to a dermatologist and found out I have severe reactions to certain foods.

N.B herbal teas are also great antidetoxins, so well done. If u want to become more healthier try green tea, its foul but works wonders. X

Natural Skincare? I wish to be acne free by the end of this month!?

Like many people in this world, I suffer from acne. I have sensitive dry skin. Aubrey Organics for Sensitive Skin
or
Alba Natural ACNEdote?

Have any of you tried these? Did you like? Dislike? Why?

I have the same problem, super sensitive skin but prone to acne. Honestly, neither of those products work very well.

Origins (which can be bought at Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Dillards, Belk, etc) is actually the company I work for, and they are wonderful. Try using Checks and Balances Foaming Face Wash first. It is wonderful. It is about $15, a bit more expensive than most drugstore cleansers, but it really works and it lasts forever. You only use a pea-sized amount when you wash your face.

If that doesn’t work, I would advise trying Clinique’s Three Step facial care system. It is for sensitive skin and it really does work.

If those are both out of your price range, Aveeno has some wonderful, all natural scrubs.

I would say the acne is from a hormone imbalance, most college students have them. These products work really well to clear skin and work with your skin to prevent more breakouts.

These steps to getting rid of acne?

I
Here are quick and simple ways that we can care for our skin.

1. Nourish your skin by eating the proper foods. This means healthy and balanced diet. Healthy and balanced diet promotes our general well being and optimizes our body to function at its best. To have a healthy skin, eat plenty of seed food i.e. fruits that contain seeds, vegetables – organic vegetables are better as it contains additional nutrients

2. Drink plenty of water. The recommended eight glasses of water a day is essential in maintaining the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. Water also clears your skin and aids in the proper elimination of waste. Remember, less waste products in your body, more beautiful skin.

3. Exercise regularly. Exercise is good for our heart and body. Even our skin benefits with exercise by increasing blood circulation and thus bringing enough oxygen and nutrients to the rest of our body. Exercise also triggers the body to produce more sebum that is the body’s natural moisturiz
